Newborn Sessions

There is nothing more special than a new little life to photograph, and I am honored to photograph such a precious and important time in your life with your new baby! It is so important to capture your baby in their first few days, because this time fades SO incredibly fast!

Newborns are best photographed at 5-14 days old. This ensures that they are still in their sleepy phase and easily posed. The session will last anywhere from 3-4 hours, depending on your baby. Since the session does last a good amount of time, it is probably best to limit the amount of guests that you will be bringing with you to the newborn session…..just Mom and Dad (and siblings if you would like to include them in a couple of shots) is great! It is all about getting them to sleep and stay sleepy during their session….those sweet, sleepy faces produce the best and sweetest images!  Ensuring that your baby has a full tummy about 20-30 minutes prior to the beginning of the session will make for a more successful session. We will also stop as many times as needed during the session for feeding breaks. Pacifiers are almost always a good idea as well….they help a TON!

Newborns photograph best in their birthday suits, so tons of clothing is not necessary.  I have a collection of blankets, wraps, headbands, cute hats, and other props to use for the session, but I also love when parents bring their own special items to incorporate into the session.
That always makes it more special, so feel free to let me know what you would like to incorporate!

Newborn sessions take place indoors, and if the weather permits, some outdoor shots can be done too. Studio sessions will be held in my home in my great room upstairs that has lots of great natural light pouring in through the windows. Lifestyle newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your own home. Lifestyle sessions focus more on the family unit….pics of your sweet bundle with mommy and daddy and any siblings….just a more laid-back approach to capturing your sweet new little one. A room that gets a lot of natural light is essential to the success of the session. If you are unsure of what may be considered a room with a lot of natural light, let me know ahead of time, and I can drop by your home to check things out prior to your session!

The scheduling of your newborn session will need to be done during your pregnancy….usually about 2-3 months prior to the birth of your child is best. You can call or email me, so that I can get your due date on my calendar. You will then need to contact me as soon as your baby is born, and from there, we can decide on a specific date for your session. We all know that babies come on their own schedule, but it is best to have an idea of when he/she will be making their debut, for scheduling purposes!

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your new little love!
